All credit decisions, automobiles,
or otherwise, are based on what is called a credit bureau score.
This score determines whether or not your lease application is approved,
and it also determines at what level your lease payment is calculated.
The score most used by automotive lenders is the Equifax Beacon.
A score of 700+ would put you in the best category. Below 700, and
down to 675, would be the next best category. Most lenders will
not approve an application with a score of less than 675.
Previously, lease applicants could
not find out their score without going to an automobile dealer.
This would put the applicants at a disadvantage, in that they would
have to take the dealers' word as to what the actual score was.
Some dealers would inform the applicants that their score was not
high enough for the best quote, and would raise the payments.
This has now changed. Equifax has
just started a program which provides an applicant with their actual
score. If you have your score you have the advantage of knowing
whether any lender, not just for automobiles, is trying to take
advantage of your supposed lack of information.
We highly recommend that you take
advantage of this, and arm yourself with this information. On the
Application Section of this website, if you provide the Beacon Score,
you do not have to provide any personal information other than your
name, city, and state in order to get an accurate quote.
